Map of Ukraine

On this map you can see Ukraine's neighbors: Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, with the Black Sea to the south. The country has no natural boundaries, other than the Black Sea, and has for centuries been fought over and over run by conquerors because of it's strategic position between Europe and Asia and it's natural resources.

The East Central section of Ukraine includes the cities on the map identified as Poltava, Kremenchuk, Dniprodzerzhyns'k, Dnipropetrovs'k, Kryvyy Rih, Zaporizhzhya, Nikopol, and Melitopol. This area includes three Ukrainian states which make up an area the size of Indiana and a population of 7.2 million. The Dnipr river runs through much of this region, continuing to the Black Sea.
